I have a copy of The Tao of Bioenergetics in my bookshelf, from a thrift store purchase a few years back. I looked it up online and learned that there aren’t any copies available for purchase on Amazon or Thriftbooks.

Does this make it a rare book?

The Tao of Bioenergetics: East and West

“The Tao of Bioenergetics” presents a pioneering study on the application of Energetics as a scientific framework in both Western and Eastern philosophies. It explores the concept of Qi (Chi), the vital force in Chinese tradition, from its origins in the I Ching to its applications in physics, astrology, Feng Shui, and alchemy. The book illustrates how ancient Chinese Qigong Masters’ insights were echoed in the works of Hippocrates, Paracelsus, and Mesmer, and further validated by the modern scientific findings of Freud, Jung, Reich, and Lowen. It includes significant passages from the works of renowned Eastern scholars like Yang, Ni, and Lu, and pays particular attention to Wilhelm Reich’s experiments, citing them as empirical evidence of Qigong’s validity. The book concludes by proposing a synthesis and discussing the implications of adopting a comprehensive energy paradigm for future global science and human advancement.

“Katchmer provides an  insightful and exhaustive explanation of the differences  between eastern and western scientific disciplines, and lays the foundation for a bridge  between the two.  Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming, President, Yang’s Oriental Arts Association, Inc.
“In the remarkable attempt at synthesis represented by the book you hold, the author  tries to link eastern and western traditions of science and physiology through their  separate yet parallel attempts to describe the highly abstract concept of energy.”  Dr, Thomas G. Gutheil, M.D., Professor of Psychiatry, Harvard Medical School
