Step into the dark heart of nature with The Root Gospel, a haunting gothic horror poem that gives voice to the forest itself. Told from the perspective of an ancient, sentient woodland, this lyrical piece explores themes of ecological revenge, memory, and transformation.
Perfect for fans of surreal horror, dark poetry, and atmospheric storytelling.
The Root Gospel
We come rooted,
veins of bark,
Cracking stone
to swallow dark.
Your walls are thin,
your breath is brief—
We bloom in rot,
we seed in grief.
We twist the light,
we drink your screams,
Our moss remembers
all your dreams.
You slept—
we learned your names,
Carved them deep
in fungal veins.
We reach through cracks,
we speak in spores,
We knock with roots
on cellar doors.
Your prayers decay,
your fire dies—
We wear your bones
as lullabies.
You built with steel,
you paved with pride,
But every oath
was petrified.
Now silence grows
where voices bled—
We are the forest.
We are what’s left.
