Watching Jurassic Park on the big screen has been a personal ritual ever since I saw the original at least three times in theaters back in 1994. Sharing that experience with my youngest daughter adds a whole new layer of excitement. Nothing beats the roar of dinosaurs echoing around a darkened cinema, with a tub of popcorn in your lap and a large slushie or -in my case- diet soda.

I give Jurassic World Rebirth a solid 3 out of 5 coffee mugs.

My Theatre Tradition

I’ve always been drawn back to those trademark “run for the docks” finales. Jurassic World Rebirth nails that suspense once again. From the moment we step onto the forbidden island—reluctant visitors driven by profit—to the inevitable chaos that follows, every beat feels like a love letter to Spielberg’s legacy.

Familiar Tropes, Timeless Thrills

Yes, Rebirth follows the same blueprint. Fractured alliances and high-stakes persuasion to visit a dangerous park are central themes. There’s a money-motivated expedition and a swift route to regret. That repetition is part of the fun. Seeing those colossal beasts lumber across the frame never gets old. This entry even tosses in a surprise “monster” dino that had my daughter gasping.

What the Critics Are Saying

  • “Homages to Spielberg’s 1993 original … dinos aplenty can only do so much when saddled with generic characters and a rickety plot.”
  • “I think it’ll probably make a lot of money … But it is the least motivated of all of these movies that I’ve seen so far.” — Alison Willmore
  • The starry cast “elevate it from garbage to garbage with a bow on it.” — Jackson Weaver
  • “Gareth Edwards brings some life back to the exhausted franchise,” even if it’s “occasionally held back by on-the-nose, expositional dialogue.” — Anthony Orlando, Digital Trends
  • Early buzz called it “such a fun film that pays homage to the original trilogy … it’ll give you a thrill ride. 8/10 for me.”

Despite mixed reviews on character and plot depth, most agree that the dinosaurs deliver the goods. Remington Entertainment will see strong box office numbers this summer.
