I already knew
You weren't a real friend to me,
So when you did that thing
It came off as poetry.
My shoulders shrugged
dust brushed off,
Let's walk it off.
Yes, let's -together.
I fell for it again.
Untethered from you,
I Lacked the proximity
To the source of
Thunderstorms,
and the clouds that always
followed us.
But soon came
The droughts, and
Cleared up the skies.
Opened up my eyes
To witness the façade.
I'll peel through
Your charades,
Sun rise to dusk ,
And even in the dark,
You can't fool luck.
I know who you are.
I see it on your face,
The curves
And the mischief.
Nothing can be
Trusted, it's all
A game to you.
After everything
that happened,
You set me up
To prove a point.
And I'll never forget
the lesson with
regret,
the times and days
spent on self-
neglect
