It’s been a while since I have written any Quadrille poems for dVerse. WhimsyGizmo asked us to write a Quadrille poem in 44 words, using the word “much” or some variation of it. Mirror-Fed Tongues is set with an eco-horror blend, something I have been exploring in my writing lately.

Mirror-Fed Tongues

Much of the dusk had teeth that bit through bone,
where the lantern-eyed beast made its throne.
A man, once whole, now stitched with dread,
spoke in tongues to the mirror-fed.
The woods did not whisper—they screamed,
and much of him stayed dead.
